The North East North Cumbria Stop People Dying Too Young group have developed a training resource for professionals, about supporting people with a learning disability to be involved in decisions at the end of their life. It’s a fantastic resource please share widely amongst your networks.
We are delighted to let you know that Sunderland People First and Health Watch Sunderland have been working closely together with other health partners and have ensured that people with a learning disability receive an easy read letter for recall following on from a mammogram.

Remember to make an appointment at your doctors if you want to talk about it more and see if you need any help.
If you have a learning disability and live in Sunderland and still need to have your co-vid vaccine please get in touch.
If you can not go along to one of the vaccine sites we may be able to come and see you in your own home or college for example.
Some of the reasons you might not be able to attend are the following
Afraid of needles. Too much noise. Too many people. Anxiety and distress. Nobody to to get you there.

Sunderland People first are one of the key organisations offering education and awareness to people with a learning disability about the sign and symptoms of cancer, what to do about it and the support you can get.

We would like to let you know that from the 4th of May 2020 there is a dedicated number that you can call if you have a learning disability and/or autism or if you are an autistic adult where you will speak to an advocate from Sunderland People First or Autism in Mind.
That person can signpost you to a variety of services where you can get help during the coronavirus pandemic.
